The page has got the keyword "Marlon Sanders" in the <title> tag, <h1> tag and top left hand section. The keyword is also in bold and is mentioned throughout the page. If you perform a search at Google using the keyword "Marlon" and "Sanders" you will find the internal page http://www.mikes-marketing-tools.com/directory/marlon-sanders.html listed at the first page. The most important factor that got this page to top SERPs (Search Engine Ranking Pages) is the good internal linking structure of the site.

Now, let us have a sneak peak at a "good looking" website http://www.you-must-think-big.com which can not be found now in the SERPs and therefore receives no traffic.

 

  • Their home page title reads "find out which product to sell online and how to sell it" and no one will ever bother to search with such a keyword combination.
  • The <h1> tag also makes no sense and when we move toward the <body> tag, we can find that a huge header graphic image forms the part of the main content which is not at all recommended.
  • The website follows a poor internal linking strategy as it uses graphics in place of text to point to the sub pages. They're wasting "votes" that they could be casting fortheir internal web pages.
